Kyoto KYOCERA Museum of Art
Location
Kyoto, Japan
Description
The Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, has been a cultural centre and a popular destination for art enthusiasts since 1933. Recently, the museum underwent a large-scale renovation, transforming it into a harmonious blend of historical and new architectural elements.
To enhance the interior's rich history and warm tones, the museum purposefully selected Derlot's Volar stool collection to furnish its café space, "ENFUSE." Circular tables, stools, and standing tables were arranged in the open front area to create an active space that draws visitors in through the glass, creating a welcoming atmosphere for both tourists and locals alike.
The cantilever design of the Volar stool collection creates a light sculptural form and simple elegance that seamlessly integrates with the museum's architecture, emphasising its unique blend of historic and new elements. In addition to providing a comfortable space for casual rest, the café serves as an opportunity for the museum to express Kyoto's rich history, culture, and culinary traditions.
